transition

Transition to rehabilitation refers to a set of activities under the TUKIKOLE project that looks at creating a safe environment for 300 young children on streets and slums of Kampala.

There are many young people facingchallenges as they grow up; challenges such as living in the streets and slums of Kampala, poor health conditions , lack of education and no shatter.Even some are sexually abuse which has resulted into unintended pregnancies and increased HIV prevalence. Kisenyi Youth Outreach (KYUKA) focus at building individuals from inside out-character, behavior among others. Always we meet troubled children and need professional and medical intervention during out activities. Therefore, through our “Transition to rehabilitation” program we follow up and profile these children, we put them in touch with the relevant institution like Agape that can provide them with shutter, food, medication, educationcounseling, inspirational talks, career guidance needed. We also invite them to our offices where we take them through a series of activities(Yoga, Art, Dance, Music, Drama and Sexual Reproductive Health sessions) every Saturday that are intended to give them a positive perspective about life and build their talents as well. We also capture their journey, experience and life story and we use these to inspire other children who might be facing similar challenges. In the picture we have Ameso Tabitha conducting the yoga class, Kibalama in the dance.
